Matthew Perry apologizes after criticizing Keanu Reeves in his autobiography

We do not attack an (inter) national treasure like Keanu Reeves with impunity. This is what Matthew Perry understood when passages from his autobiography in which he attacked the star of Matrix and John Wick have been published. In an excerpt, the actor from Friends discusses his friendship with actors such as River Phoenix and Chris Farley, who died of drug overdoses.

Rather than just lamenting their deaths, while he himself has been fighting addiction for years, the interpreter of Chandler Bing has decided to attack his colleague.

“River was a magnificent man, inside and out – too handsome for this world, in fact. It always seems like it’s the really talented guys that go down. Why are original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger dying, while Keanu Reeves is still with us? writes Matthew Perry.

Still alive

In another excerpt, Matthew Perry, who had therefore not chosen his Turkish face at random, evokes the death of Chris Farley in the same way.

“Her illness had progressed faster than mine (plus, I had a healthy fear of the word ‘heroin’, a fear we didn’t share). I punched a hole in the wall of Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room when I found out. “Keanu Reeves is still with us”, says the actor.

Faced with the bad buzz caused by these few lines, Matthew Perry had to make amends and split a press release.

“I’m actually a huge Keanu fan. I just picked a random name, my mistake. I apologize. I should have used my own name instead,” he said.
