“The Queen of the South 3″: Kate del Castillo talks about the experience of filming in Peru and Machu Picchu

Long before being selected to play Teresa Mendoza in “the queen of the south”, Kate of the Castle I was pursuing that role. Ever since she read the book by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, the Mexican actress sensed that a character as challenging as that would give her great professional and personal satisfaction. And she was not wrong, but what she never imagined was that in October 2021 she would take him through majestic settings, such as the sacred Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, a place charged with energy that she hopes to return to soon.

“The people in Peru are divine, they received us with a lot of love and they have the best food I have ever tasted in my life. I never thought that my work would take me to a place as beautiful as Machu Picchu. I don’t know how Telemundo executives were able to get us to film there. It is masterful, it is a place that fills you with energy, I have rarely experienced something like this. It is a very beautiful country. Hopefully I can come back, but on vacation,” Castillo Negrete Trillo told El Comercio in a virtual press conference that was held before the launch of the series on October 18.

The story based on the publication of the Spanish writer, Arturo Pérez Reverte, has been changing since its premiere in 2011. In both the second and third seasons, new characters were incorporated and the recordings took place in solemn settings around the world.

“When we made the first queen, Telemundo was a very ambitious company, but much smaller. The first season of ‘The Queen of the South’ is full of heart, it’s my favorite. In the second we have traveled to eight countries: Romania, Italy, Spain, Russia, Mexico, the United States… There were many places. Currently we see a more mature Teresa Mendoza, but above all more warrior, ”she highlighted.

“Teresa was refined, but she never stopped being a woman of the people, simple. That will never go away. Not even the way of talking about her changes, ”added the actress.

He also recalled the most critical moments of the second season of the series that was broadcast in 2019 and that further cemented the popularity of this fiction for its third installment.

“Each chapter is like a separate movie. It’s got this whole vibe that’s like an action thriller. There are very nice scenes, like the kidnapping of my daughter, or when we fly in a helicopter and I come out shooting. It was amazing,” she stated.

Projects

After a long season away from her native country, the actress returned to Mexico in the first quarter of 2022, temporarily, to be part of a series based on Anna Karenina, the classic written by the Russian novelist, Leo Tolstoy.

“We are going to shoot a modern version of ‘Anna Karenina.’ It’s going to be a totally different thing, it’s a tragedy. It’s called ‘Beautiful Lie’, it’s the first series that we’re going to do with my production company for a platform and that’s why I’m excited to return to my country, ”she assured about the project that still does not have a release date.

This year, Kate del Castillo celebrated five decades of life. An age that instead of worrying her, filled her with joy, as she assured that she has lived each year in an intense and rewarding way.

“I arrive happy from life, very comfortable with my own skin. I wouldn’t take a single year off and I still have a long way to go. I am just starting to be the woman I want to be, ”she stressed. And she, without a doubt, comes to this also full of projects.
