Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” returns to the market with a reissue and 10 extra songs

“Thriller” of Michael Jacksonthe best-selling album of all time, will return to the market on November 18 on the occasion of its 40th anniversary with a reissue that will include 10 extra songs, some completely unpublished.

Under the title “Thriller 40”, his record company has announced that there will be three formats available: on vinyl with a new alternative cover, on a double CD with a dozen added cuts and in a digital version that, in addition to this content, will include 15 remixes.

As has been revealed in recent weeks, among the new material are two songs previously collected on the posthumous album “Michael” (2010): the original demo of “Behind the Mask” and an initial version of “Best of Joy” , which was conceived as a song for the BSO of the movie “The Toy” (His favorite toy) of 1982.

There will also be completely unreleased tracks such as “She’s Trouble” or “What a Lovely Way to Go”, which was about to be included on the aforementioned album “Michael” after passing through the hands of producer Mark Ronson, although it did not become part of of the repertoire at the end.

“Thriller” was Jackson’s sixth studio album and, with such iconic songs as the one that gives it its name, “Billie Jean” or “Beat It”, it became the best seller of all time with 100 million copies sold worldwide to date, according to figures from Sony Music.

Produced by Quincy Jones and Jackson himself, seven of the album’s nine songs were released as singles and all of them reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In addition, the video clip for “Thriller”, directed by John Landis, constituted a turning point in audiovisual production linked to pop, hence the Grammy for best long music video won in 1984 along with 7 other awards won that year alone.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its publication, the album will be the subject of other reviews and events around the world, such as art exhibitions with immersive experiences that will take place in Dusseldorf from November 10 to 13 and in New York from November 18 to 20. november.

Added to these are exclusive screenings of the new documentary “Thriller 40″, with eight unique screenings in eight cities around the world, including Madrid on November 30 at the MK2 Cine Paz.
