Latin Grammy 2022 LIVE: Peruvian artists prepare for their big night

This November 17 will be the 23rd edition of the Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas, a great night to recognize the work that Latino artists have done over the last year. Peru will also share part of this honor thanks to the nomination of four national artists, a record for female presence by our country due to the efforts of already renowned artists Araceli Poma, Eva Ayllón, Susana Baca, as well as the rising star of Nicole Zignago, who has been nominated for the first time in her career.

Thus, Nicole Zignago participates in the Best New Artist category, while Eva Ayllón and Susana Baca share the Best Folk Album category, being nominated for their albums “Quédate en casa” and “Palabras urgentes” respectively. Meanwhile, Araceli Poma and American bassist Matt Geraghty are fighting for the competitive Best Alternative Music Album award for their album “The Sacred Leaf”, made as part of the duo Afro-Andean Funk with the collaboration of Manno Beats.

During the last five years, Peru has had an outstanding participation in the Latin Recording Academy Awards, achieving in 2019 the historic number of 11 nominations in different categories, the year in which Tony Succar and Enrique ‘Kike’ Purizaga won two and a gramophone respectively. Meanwhile, in 2020 Susana Baca, Eva Ayllón and Araceli Poma were jointly nominated for “Just Play Peru”.
