Latin Grammy 2022: Eva Ayllón and Susana Baca did not win for Best Folk Album

Síntesis, X Alfonso and Eme Alfonso took the gramophone for Best Folk Album in this edition of the Latin Grammy with his album “Ancestros Sinfónico”. The Peruvians Eva Ayllón and Susana Baca failed to win the prize.

“I wanted to thank all my family that is here and that it has been possible to do this,” said a member of Síntesis. “We have been very impressed with this. Thank you very much to the Academy”, added X Alfonso.

This year’s edition was particularly interesting for the Peruvian public, since it put two of its greatest representatives in direct competition with Susana Baca and Eva Ayllón, who competed with their albums “Quédate en casa” and “Palabras urgentes” respectively.

They were not the only ones in the category, which also highlighted the work of Paulina Aguirre with “La tierra llora”, Pedro Aznar with “Flor y raíz”, Natalia Lafourcade with “Un canto por México – El musical” and Sandra Mihanovich with “Bendiciones ”.

2022 has been a historic year for Peru at the Latin Grammys, gathering four nominations for Peruvian artists. In addition to Baca and Ayllón, competing for a gramophone is Nicole Zignago in the Best New Artist category and Araceli Poma – as part of the Afro-Andean Funk duo with Matt Geraghty – in the Best Alternative Music Album category.
