“Disenchanted”, the sequel to the blockbuster “Enchanted”, which in 2007 presented the story of a cartoon princess who is transported to present-day New York, is now available on Disney+ with a plot that promises a twist on the typical tales of Disney fairies.
In this new installment, actress Amy Adams makes her magical return as Giselle, who accidentally becomes the villain of the story as the evil stepmother of her stepdaughter Morgan, played by Gabriella Baldacchino.
Giselle, the villain
Adams said it took her a second to enjoy the evil aspect of her character.
“Honestly, when I started being mean to her, I felt really bad because she was so antithetical to Giselle, and I didn’t feel right when I did it.”Adams said. “But then we liked it and when Giselle started peeking out and there was more interaction, that was a lot of fun.”
The sequel, also directed by Adam Shankman, brings back Robert, now Giselle’s husband and played by Patrick Dempsey, as well as James Marsden as Prince Edward and Idina Menzel as Nancy, who have been living in the fantasy realm of Andalasia from the last movie.
While Giselle explores her darker side, the other big villain in the movie is Malvina, played by Maya Rudolph.

Double bad
Maya Rudolph said that she liked nothing more than fighting Amy Adams’ Giselle using “wands and nails to cast spells and crowns”.
“Having seen the first film, I knew what the idea would be. It’s a fairy tale that’s self-aware and that’s the funniest thing”, he added.
“Disenchanted” debuted on Disney+ on November 18.
