Antonio Banderas on his role in “Indiana Jones 5”: “It’s almost a cameo”

Antonio Banderas will interpret “a very small role, almost a cameo” in the film “Indiana Jones 5”, whose premiere is scheduled for June 30, 2023, the Spanish actor advanced this Tuesday in an interview with Collider, a digital portal specialized in cinema.

”My role is very small, almost a cameo. It’s just a friend of Indiana Jones that he looks for because he needs something from him in the plot.. My apparition lasts a very short time.” specified Banderas, who added that he is also “very happy” to be part of a saga that “It’s already movie history”.

His signing to the iconic action-adventure franchise was announced last year, when the release date was still scheduled for July 2022.

Fifteen years after “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, the tape supposes the return of Harrison Ford in the skin of the mythical archaeologist along with a main cast made up of other figures such as Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson or Thomas Kretschmann.

Also, the composer John Williams will once again be counted on to create the soundtrack of this film whose song “Helena’s Theme” was already previewed on September 4 during one of her summer concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles (United States).

The fifth installment will be Indiana Jones’s last adventure on the big screen, but the Disney+ platform is already developing a parallel series that would be based on the goddaughter of the famous archaeologist, Helena, who would take over as the new protagonist.
