“Avatar: the path of water”: the ‘underwater’ movies that you can watch on streaming

The Little Mermaid (1989)

Animated classic that marked the great return of Disney after years of debacle. Although it is a sweetened version of the original Hans Christian Andersen story, it has its charm. It will have a live action version in 2023. On Disney+.

Waterworld (1995)

It was supposed to be the big hit of the summer, but it barely made back its investment. Even so, this film starring Kevin Costner, Dennis Hopper and Jeanne Tripplehorn remains a document of the time; ambitious and flawed. On Netflix.

Atlantis (2001)

A classic adventure inspired by 20th century adventure movies, where a group of explorers search for the most famous lost city in history. As in any colonizing enterprise, the reasons for the trip are far from holy. On Disney+.

Steve Zissou’s Life Aquatic (2004)

A marine explorer carries out his greatest undertaking with a very special crew, including someone who is possibly his son. Directed by the meticulous Wes Anderson. In Star+.

Aquaman (2018)

Arthur Curry, half human and half Atlantean, has to face his origins, as well as formidable enemies. Underwater action in the DC Comics superhero formula, with Jason Momoa, Nicole Kidman and Willem Dafoe. On HBO Max.
