“Merlina”: the suspicious resemblance to scenes from “Harry Potter” that have alerted fans

“Merlina” has become one of the most watched Netflix series, it has even managed to surpass the success “Stranger Things”. The fiction starring Jenna Ortega narrates the life of a teenager who arrives at a school after being expelled for taking revenge on the stalkers of her younger brother. In this new school, she will become a kind of detective whose objective is to discover who is behind the unsolved deaths.

During the episodes, some fans have been able to notice that the series directed by Tim Burton has some nods to the “Harry Potter” saga, indeed, some even say that it is inspired by the tapes inspired by the books of JK Rowling. Next, we show you the possible similarities.

1. Sculptures with secret passes:

In the “Harry Potter” saga, from the first tape, it is shown that there are different areas that have secret passages when moving a sculpture. In “Merlina”, something similar is shown. Students have secret passages to get to places where only a select group of students gather.

2. Staircase scene:

In the fourth tape of “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”, Hermione’s character comes down the stairs and dazzles Harry and Ron, who turn to see her. For her part, in the Tim Burton series, Merlina, comes down with a long black dress and her friend Tyler is the one who is surprised to see her go down the stairs.

3. Botany classes:

As recalled in the first tapes, Harry, Ron and Hermione take botany classes and are even taught to read the future through tea. In “Merlina”, the protagonist shows that she knows the power of plants very well, even knowing it helps her to solve some police cases.

4. The dance:

The fourth “Harry Potter” movie shows a big ball where Hogwarts students dance and celebrate with students from other schools. In the case of “Merlina”, a great winter dance is held where the protagonist performs a peculiar dance, which has even managed to go viral on social networks.

5. Games at school:

In “Harry Potter”, there were many competitions among the students. One of them was Quidditch, where youngsters had to fly on their broom while catching a magic ball. In addition, the great wizard tournament is also shown, where different schools compete to prove that it is the best. In the case of the Netflix series, Merlina and her friends compete in rowing boats. In both fictions, there are sirens that complicate the participation of the contestants.

6. A secret chamber:

In both fictions, the protagonists use their abilities to open a secret chamber. Merlina uses her wits to solve a question and enter, while Harry uses Parseltongue, which helps him communicate with snakes.

Have you noticed these similarities? Do you think both fictions are connected?
