Tito Silva, from “Mi bebito Fiu Fiu” to Peruvian cinema: How did you participate with a song in “A gigantic adventure”?

While “Pirates in Callao” was humble in technical terms, “A Giant Adventure” shows that years bring experience. Impressive designs of mythical creatures from the Nasca culture, some of them cute too, but that add action to a story where young Sebastián (Gina Yangali) and Sophia (Merly Morello) have to save the world. It is in the mouth of one of these characters where Silva’s collaboration enters.

“The proposal arose one day when the production company wrote to me and asked me if I would like to do a remix within an animated film. I was delighted with the idea, because I would go from making remixes of current issues or trends to applying my content within a different space such as an animated film. So I didn’t think about it and I quickly accepted,” the Peruvian creative told El Comercio by email.

What does Tito Silva’s participation in the Peruvian film consist of? “It’s a scene where there’s a little discussion between the main characters and I start remixing one of them into a funky disco style, which is one of my favorite music genres. Best of all, the character starts dancing to this remix and takes some really cool steps,” explained the musician, whose most recent remix shared on networks, based on a scene from the “SpongeBob” series, has almost 750,000 views between YouTube and Spotify.

Usually, Silva’s songs are a parody of something. He takes what already exists, twists it and the result is something else, but keeping the soul of the original. What was it like creating this remix for the film? “As soon as I heard the dialogue that I was going to remix, the melody and the beat came to my mind. The team loved it and everything flowed excellent. The song has touches of disco, house and funk music, where I also sing certain parts to give a more complete meaning to the song, ”he said.

Finally, for Tito Silva, participating in this film is special because he shares a space with a Peruvian musician like Diego Dibós, who, years after his first collaboration with Schuldt, returns to release a song associated with an animated film.

I found out that Diego Dibós did the main music for the film. As soon as I heard it, I realized he was the one to do it, because he has a very, very special touch for scoring animated films. The musical resources that he uses impress me a lot because he takes risks with the changes in tonality and with the vocal melodies, in such a way that he gives a unique personality to his compositions, very different from what I usually hear on the national music scene. pop rock“, said.

An interview with Tito Silva could not end without asking him about his most successful creation, “Mi bebito fiu fiu”, controversial for being based on the song by Dido and Eminem, withdrawn from YouTube in its original version, but which unofficially survives on other platforms. Have you gotten used to being always associated with that song?

“Regarding my personal projects and my wave of memes and remixes, everything continues to grow little by little and just like last year we had a world hit, this year we are going for much more, but above all always with passion and fun and I must add I’m very fond of him,” he said.
