Alicia Faubel, the current Miss Spain, honored angela ponce in the Miss Universe preliminary, wearing a cape with her face portrayed, accompanied by the flag of Spain and the flag LGBTIQ+. Although Ángela’s performance generated much controversy within the world of fashion and catwalks, it also served as a turning point for the LGBTI community within the media, marking a before and after. And it is that, without counting the Iberian, the last inclusion of a transgender model dates back to the participation of the Canadian Jenna Talackova in 2012, although she was disqualified after it was discovered that she was a boy when she was born.

Although at the time the representative of Spain did not win, her message was one of the most powerful and resonates to this day, being remembered by the detractors and followers of the renowned model.

After participating in Miss Spain 2018 and, later, in Miss Universe 2018, Ponce had to face a series of bad reviews from various Internet users and colleagues who criticized her for not being a woman by birth. However, the 31-year-old model was not intimidated and she widely defended her inclusion in that edition of the most important beauty pageant on the planet.

Currently, the beautiful Ángela Ponce has not left aside the issue of fashion and the catwalks, as she remains current by frequently collaborating with luxury brands such as Dior, as well as Pantene and Shein.
