The well-known entertainment company crunchyrollin association with Sony Pictures Entertainment, announced that the film by Japanese filmmaker Makoto Shinkai “Suzume” will be released exclusively on April 13 in theaters in Peru.
The film was released in Japan on November 11 last year and exceeded 5.6 million tickets sold. In addition, the film has generated a profit of 7,500 million yen, which translates to 55 million dollars. In this way, it remains at the top of the box office in Japan for 3 consecutive weeks.
So far, the Cineplanet and Cinemark chains have confirmed the presence of the film on their billboards for the dates indicated. “Suzume” tells the story of a little girl who travels all over Japan, but when she comes across some ruins she finds a door without knowing that closing it would cause endless disasters that she will later have to fix.
It should be remembered that, during the prestigious Cannes Film Festival -held in May 2022-, the company Crunchyroll acquired the global distribution and marketing rights (excluding Asia) from Toho for the film “Suzume”.
For his part, the Japanese filmmaker Makoto Shinkai is considered a visionary in the world of animation thanks to his work on films such as “Your Name” (2016) and “Weathering With You” (2019), which have positioned him as one of the main internationally recognized filmmakers.
