Florence Pugh reveals that there were people from “indie cinema” who were upset when she entered the Marvel Universe

British actress Florence Pugh revealed that many people in the independent film community were “mad” with her when she decided to join the Cinematic Universe of Marvel with the movie “Thunderbolts”.

A lot of people in the independent film world were really mad at me. They said, ‘Great, now it’s gone forever.’ And I’m like, no, I’m working as hard as I used to. I’ve always made back-to-back movies. It’s just that people are looking at them now. You just have to be a little more organized with your schedule”Pugh said in an interview with Time.

Despite his role at Marvel, Pugh hasn’t shunned independent films. In between Marvel movies, he filmed Sebastian Lelio’s Netflix-backed drama “The Wonder” and earned critical acclaim for his role. He recently headlined Zach Braff’s latest independent directorial effort, “A Good Person.”

The young interpreter revealed in March, during a conversation with Total Filme, that she had received comments from the industry that she would “never make small films again”. This situation worried her a bit because she always thought of doing everything in the movies.

It always made me a little uneasy because I think there’s beauty in all the guys in those movies.. There is beauty in massive, epic stories like ‘Dune’, like Marvel, like even ‘Oppenheimer’ I did. They are amazing, mega movies. And then there’s also beauty in all these little ones that not everyone will see, but will affect the right person at the right time. I never, ever thought that I was only going to make one type of movie. I have always known that I want to venture into all areas”said.

As is known, “Thunderbolts” will hit theaters in July 2024, but before that, Pugh will star in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” and will make her debut as Princess Irulan in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two.” She will be part of a cast that includes the likes of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Austin Butler.
