“Spider-Man 4” with Tom Holland is on indefinite hiatus

spider-man returns to the big screen again thanks to the theatrical release of the animated film Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse. However, not all is good news for fans of the spider hero. The writers’ strike that is taking place in Hollywood has paralyzed the development of Spider-Man 4, the new installment of the character played by Tom Holland.

During the premiere of the aforementioned animated film, the president of Sony Pictures, Amy Pascal, gave an interview to Variety in which she confessed that the plans to make the next web-slinger movie are not underway, at least while the strike lasts.

“Are we going to make another movie? Of course. We’re working on it, but with the writers’ strike nobody’s working. We all support them and once they figure it out, we’ll get started.” explained the director and producer. A blow that could lead to delays throughout the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

First announced 2021, the film had just begun its writing process. At least that was confirmed by Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, last February. However, with the strike everything has stopped and it is not known for sure when work will resume.

In fact, Spider-Man 4 is not the only Marvel project that has been affected. The shooting of Daredevil: Born Again had to be paused already in the first days of the strike due to the pickets. The Guardian Devil series has yet to announce any delays, but no scenario can be ruled out.

At the moment, Spider-Man 4 did not have an official release date. No plot details have been revealed either. The only thing that had been confirmed is that Tom Holland and Zendaya will return in their respective roles. The presence of Miles Morales was rumored, who would make his debut in real image. In that regard, Pascal has also confirmed that there is a movie in development for that to happen.
