Micheille Soifer on Reggaetón Music Festival 2: “I didn’t have to pay the piper for what happened in the presentation”

A few days after traveling to Colombia, the Peruvian singer Michelle Soifer continues in the search to position itself in the urban scene. His next release will be the song “Algo rico”, a song that he will premiere on Friday, June 30 and that will serve as a prelude to his new collaboration with Sergio George, former producer of Yahaira Plasencia, who will be part of this new project that will be released in August.

While she continues working on the production of the material before and after “Algo Rico”, life outside the stage does not exist for the artist, as she prepares to enter coffee-growing lands for three months. “There is a great Colombian production company that will take care of my career there. We hope to be everywhere after this”, mentions Soifer, who recognizes that Peru is a difficult place to build a musical career, so she is excited by the opportunity to expand internationally.

What will “Something Rich” be about?

It is a subject that has exactly that: something rich. Romantic, sensual elements that can be dedicated to a couple. In the video clip I decided to appear alone, unlike previous songs, in order to connect with more intimate sensations.

―You are also producing a song with Sergio George

Yes, I got close to him while we were working on Gisela’s show. At that time I kept my distance because he worked with Yahaira, but now that Monumental is starting a project with Sergio that is Chim Pum Music, a salsa proposal, he gave himself the opportunity to work with him.

―What is it like to create songs with Sergio George?

Sergio is a strict person, that’s how producers must be to guide artists, as well as being creative and fast. In just 30 seconds he created the beat for the song, it was very fast. In this new song you will see a lot of the empowered Latino side that points to the discos so that they dance to it to the fullest, it is a neighborhood thing and it will be released in August.

How do you feel on stage?

I die of panic in the first few minutes when I enter the stage, but halfway through the song I already feel happiness, I see the people, I enjoy their presence and sharing with them.

―And in your presentation at the Reggaetón Music Festival 2?

It is not the first time that I find myself involved in something that involves many masses, I am always in the eye of the storm. Initially I wasn’t affected by the criticism because I thought they were making a big deal out of it due to blunders and insults that I didn’t hear. The days went by, people made videos on the networks and they played more and more topics and then I knew something was up.

How did you feel after this controversy?

I’ve been in the art industry for 16 years, but I just had the opportunity to make music and perform on big stages. Maybe the audience was angry because the sound went out or an artist didn’t show up, but I didn’t have to pay the piper for the inconvenience of the presentation. I’m still thinking about it.

What do you remember of that day?

To the people, I came out of that stage as a champion, since there were more than forty thousand people. Previously I performed in the same place, but with less public. Since I’m getting used to big stages, I just need to fly outside.

How do you plan to release your music abroad?

There are two ways to do that: either you connect with people from outside or the country itself drives you. We have seen that this last option is the most difficult, not impossible, but complicated. Now we will travel to Colombia for three months and a production company, in alliance with Monumental, will take care of my career there.

-How do you see the foreign public in comparison to the Peruvian?

I see that countries like Argentina, Colombia, Chile and other countries support their national artists. Peruvian musicians are very talented, we have nothing to envy others, but we still lack that bit that helps promote singers.

Will you continue with the same singles format?

I don’t know if album releases are the best for my career. I took one out, but felt like I couldn’t give each song more depth. When I release tracks, I give them a whole new profile. But if Sergio George tells me tomorrow that he wants to release an album with me, I accept.

What would you say to your audience?

Please let’s make the hashtag “We want Michi at Festival 3”.

-It is not very soon?

Imagine, if we don’t get into those big events, which are the important ones where a large audience will see us, what will become of us? Invite me, I’ll be happy, and if you do 4 or 5, I want to be there. For sure there will be some who are not happy, but there are thousands of fans who do want to see me.

“Even if the console explodes?”

It doesn’t matter, if that happens, we will continue singing a cappella.
