“La Pampa”: Peruvian film, winner of 11 international awards, premieres this Thursday

In countdown. This Thursday, June 29, it opens in all theaters in our country “The Pampa”the Peruvian film of Dorian Fernandez Morris, shot entirely in the city of Pucallpa and which addresses the issue of human trafficking and sexual slavery.

The story has in its cast Fernando Bacilio, the most internationally awarded Peruvian actor, Mayella Lloclla, Oscar Carrillo, Gonzalo Molina, Silvia Maju and the debut of luz pinedoa young woman selected in a casting where 1,800 people participated.

In addition to this, there was the participation of almost two hundred extras, the construction of more than three blocks of bars and clubs to make long sequence shots that will make the viewer have a unique experience while watching the film.

“Making “La Pampa” has meant one of the biggest challenges of all my films. We had to build all the scenes of the film from scratch since we could not work in natural spaces because it was very complex to go there (Madre de Dios)”indicated the director of “La Pampa”

Thus, in Pucallpa, where the entire film was shot, they had to recreate an immense illegal exploitation camp with three entire blocks of infinity of bars and brothels.

“We are talking about 10,000 m2 of sets, an unprecedented effort in general in national cinema and that suggested having 180 extras on stage, the construction of three blocks of bars, scenes for the prostitute bars in the film, that was built on a motocross track, the size of a stadium”, added.

With this production, Fernández Moris and his production team demonstrated that they are up to the task of other foreign productions that also erect or build huge sets for their filming.

“Without a doubt, it is a novelty to be able to say that Peruvian cinema also has this management and logistics capacity, of not being afraid of these challenges of making sets of this dimension that were only seen in cinemas made abroad.”

Another of the resources used is that of sequence shots, in the same style as directors such as Alfonso Cuarón and Gonzalez Iñarritu.

“This is complemented by having been able to take long sequence shots that basically make the camera film non-stop for another six or seven minutes, in the middle of the display and choreography of 180 extras walking around. It took us endless rehearsals, of course it did, but now we’re happy to show the story that way. Without a doubt, it gives an immersive experience to the viewer and allows them to feel that they are living it there in situ, in person, it makes the story of the film even more intense”, said the director.
