“El Puma” returns to Mexico with benefit concerts

The iconic Venezuelan singer Jose Luis Rodriguez “El Puma” He will return to Mexico after years of absence with a tour of several concerts throughout the country, some of which will be for charity.

The artist will be presented at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City on September 13 and 14; two days later in the Pabellón M Auditorium in the northern city of Monterrey; on the 23rd of the same month at the Forum Mundo Imperial on the costeña acapulcoand finally in Playa del Carmen, an event for which there is still no set date.

“I don’t know how long I had not come to Mexico (…). It was the first country that I visited on my international tour and, if I am ever going to conclude something, I would like it to be here, I have wonderful memories of this country”, Rodríguez said this Wednesday at a press conference.

On his return to Mexico, The Venezuelan indicated that he will interpret new songs such as “Amores que enganga”, but that he will review twenty of his greatest hits.

“I bring things that I owe to Mexico, but it is to review what people want to hear. I have recorded like 600 songs, but in the show we have 25, it is impossible to sing them all. We will be trying to remember and have fun.”advancement.

The proceeds from the two concerts that will be held in the Mexican capital will go to Reintegra AC, an association that seeks social justice through crime prevention among young people who live in environments of violence.

“We are very pleased to do this event with ‘El Puma’. With this event we are going to raise funds to continue changing this city that needs it so much”, said Jimena Cándano, director of Reintegra.

In addition to this new tour of Mexico, the singer pointed out that he is working on a documentary series about his life in which “the whole truth” of what happened throughout his 80 years of life will be revealed.

One of the most complex moments he has gone through was the double lung transplant he had after years of fighting pulmonary fibrosis without a cure in 2017.

“I had the thing with the lungs, the pandemic, a stagnation of about five years, and I hope that things will normalize now and I will meet with you again”he explained when questioned about his absence from Mexico, one of the countries where he is most idolized, for years.

The disease, he admitted, has made him change from an “impulsive and violent” character to a more patient and serene one, but it has not made him lose sight of his priority as an artist: being close to people.

“When the artist begins, he fights to make himself known, and when he arrives, he fights to go unnoticed. It is not coherent, I assume a responsibility that I myself have created to be recognized (…). I want to give, give and give until I run dry.” sentenced.
