Famous movie “Paddington 3” was filmed on the llaqta of Machupicchu

A few weeks after the successful premiere of the film “Transformers. The awakening of the beasts, Recorded in different locations in Peru, such as Cusco and Machupicchu, a new international franchise chose our country as the filming location for its story. This is the third installment ofPaddington”which made its recordings in the citadel of Machupicchu, thanks to coordination with different state agencies.

The Ministry of Culture, through the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Cusco (DDC), provided the facilities for the authorization procedures and the filming itself, to the filming crew of the film, to shoot various scenes in the National Archaeological Park of Macchu Picchu and the mountain Huayna Picchu.

In this way, and with the continuous accompaniment of specialists from the Ministry of Culture, the scenes were recorded to once again put Peru on the big screen, as the setting for an endearing story for the whole family. In this way, our main cultural attraction, Machupicchu, will be in the eyes of the world.

About the most beloved Peruvian bear in the world

“Paddington” is an English production directed by Paul King, based on a classic character from English children’s literature, “Paddington Bear” by the writer Michael Bond, whose origins are related to Peru. The first two film installments were successful at the international box office, totaling nearly $500 million at the box office.

The third installment of the Peruvian bear will find him returning to his home country to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears. Paddington and the Brown family will embark on an unexpected journey through the Amazon jungle to the mountain peaks of Peru.

In this sense, to help the success of the film, the DDC Cusco ensured the correct development of the filming, safeguarding all the spaces and archaeological monuments in the area. Thus, within the conditions for granting the authorization, compliance with security measures was ensured, such as the restriction of entry to vulnerable areas, the proper use of the equipment, preventing it from being placed on the architectural structure of the citadel and the supervision in the use of drones for filming.

In this way, the Ministry of Culture reaffirms its commitment to the development of cinema and audiovisuals, promoting and facilitating film productions in our country, positioning it as an attractive filming destination for international production companies. This is done in strict balance with the care and respect for the tangible and intangible heritage of the country, ensuring that any international production carries out its activities without affecting the spaces where they are developed.

On the importance of creating a Film Commission

Film and audiovisuals is one of the creative industries that most stimulates the country’s economy and generates the most jobs. In this line, from the Ministry of Culture of Peru, actions are carried out to benefit the creation of a technical table, which promotes the formation of a Peruvian Film Commission that promotes and facilitates the realization of audiovisual projects in Peru.

In this sense, the Ministry issued a communication to the MEF, within the current legal framework, in favor of the creation of a technical committee that will promote the creation of a Film Commission, and will have the participation of state organizations and civil society.
