Víctor Acurio, actor of “Willaq Pirqa”, stars in the announcement of the Lima Film Festival

Víctor Acurio, the young actor from Cusco in the Peruvian film “Willaq Pirqa”, is the protagonist of the announcement of the 27th edition of the PUCP Lima Film Festival. The spot was recorded in the city of Cusco, in the district of Maras where the actor lives, works and studies.

In this documentary spot, Acurio narrates his first encounter with cinema, thus summarizing the motto of the 27th edition of the event: “Let’s be protagonists”.

Narrated entirely in Quechua with voiceover, Acurio himself tells his story. This spot tries to summarize the first encounter that we have all had or are going to have with a movie screen.

In “Willaq Pirqa”, Víctor gave life to ‘Sistu’, a Quechua-speaking boy who discovers cinema. Directed by César Galindo, the Peruvian film, premiered at the 26th PUCP Lima Film Festival, won the Audience Award for Best Film, the Ministry of Culture Jury Award for Best Peruvian Film, and the PUCP Community Award for Best Film “Hecho in Peru”. In addition, it was one of the most watched movies of 2022 in its commercial release.

In this way, the 27th Lima Film Festival returns to face-to-face with a program that includes more than one hundred films including feature films, medium-length films and shorts, many of them world premieres in Peru. In addition, it reinforces the sale of tickets to see Peruvian films online, thus reaching the public in the provinces and abroad.

This year, the 27th Lima Film Festival will open its doors to the public on August 10 with a grand opening ceremony at the Gran Teatro Nacional.
