Philharmonic Society of Lima will offer concerts for its 116th anniversary

The Philharmonic Society of Lima will celebrate its 116th founding anniversary with music recitals, which will take place on Monday, August 14, and Wednesday, August 16, at 7:45 pm at the Santa Úrsula Auditorium, San Isidro.

The Venezuelan pianist Sergio Tiempo, the Israeli mandolinist Avi Vital and the Arcangelo Orchestra, directed by Jonathan Cohen, will perform for the first time in Lima.

Sergio Tiempo is a pianist born in Venezuela. It will be presented on August 14 as part of the recitals organized by the SFL. He will perform a repertoire that includes works by Frédéric Chopin and Moisés Moleiro, Astor Piazzolla, Antônio Carlos Jobim and Chico Buarque, among others.

Avi Avital is the first mandolin soloist to be nominated for a classical Grammy. Born in Israel, he composed more than 100 mandolin works, including mandolin concertos. He will perform together with the Arcangelo Orchestra compositions by Antonio Vivaldi and Johann Sebastian Bach the August 16 at 7:45 p.m.

Conductor Jonathan Cohen is the founder and artistic director of the Arcangelo Orchestra. He is also a cellist and keyboardist. He directs the musical group Les Violons du Roy, is artistic director of the Tetbury Festival and artistic partner of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.
