Karol G and Maluma venture into carioca funk with the remix of “Tá Ok”

The Colombians Carol G. and Maluma launch into “carioca funk” in the remix of “Tá OK” that was released this Thursday and where they join the Brazilian producer Dennis and MC Kevin or Chris in “a very special connection between the funk drumzão of the 2000s and the irresistible Latin rhythm of reggaeton”.

This is the remix of one of the Brazilian hits of the year, “Tá OK”, which now unites Medellín and Rio, with the union of the voices of Maluma and Karol G and which is accompanied by a video clip recorded between Brussels, Los Angeles and Rio de Janeiro.

“Musically, the melody of the remix is still full of funk samples and electronic drums, but now it has gained the freshness of the unmistakable hot rhythm of reggaeton”, Sony record company said in a statement.

The video clip, directed by Phill Mendonça, rescues the Rio aesthetic of twerking bodies and moving asses and begins with a video call between Dennis and Maluma.

“I feel like in Rio”, Maluma says before beginning to sing in Portuñol, in sensual lyrics that call for dancing and enjoyment. “Hey baby, what’s there to do? After this to the hotel”, sings Karol G, who ends the song with an invitation: “I want to see them sweat”.

The cross between the two nationalities was born from the Brazilian producer who, through Sony, presented some things to Maluma. “But then the pandemic came and everything stopped,” he explained, until “Tá OK” reached the world top.

“I thought: ‘man, I think it’s time, I’m going to call Maluma to do the remix with me.’ It worked great! He was very impressed, he sent me the voice quickly and the music was ready in days ”, Dennis assured.

Karol G’s participation came later, but bringing the two stars together is a “great achievement” and a “victory” for the Brazilian.

“I am very excited to be part of this song that I like so much… I respect, love and enjoy your culture and I can’t wait for you to listen to it, dance to it and sing it together there… IN BRAZIL”, said yesterday the Colombian artist, who is in full success after presenting her album “Tomorrow will be beautiful.”
