The audiovisual productions of El Comercio at the PUCP Lima Film Festival

Within the field of cinematography PUCP Lima Film FestivalEl Comercio also has a space to present the various audiovisual materials it produces, including the new season of the web series “Cuenta la Historia” and the documentaries that explore the different facets of Peruvian reality.

The conversation that will be held in Room No. 2 of the PUCP Cultural Center, will have the participation of the producer of “Cuenta la Historia”, Mónica Panta Miranda, and the executive producer Daniel Apuy Pérez, who will show an episode “Cuenta la Historia” which, for this new season, will focus on giving the public an immersive experience and greater dramatization by the series’ host, Gonzalo Torres. “Now they will look more like short films, this as a consequence of the importance of several stories that are in the archive and that are now taken to video”, Apuy mentions.

Among the productions that will be shown during the presentation will be documentary trailers such as “CHAKARUWAQ: the story of the Q’eswachaka Andean engineer”, which tells the story of the last Inca bridge. In addition to this material, other trailers of El Comercio’s own creation that can be found on the YouTube platform will also be screened.

This is the first work in which we exclusively use Quechua, both in the dialogues and in the music. Given the importance we gave to this project, we plan to present it in the ‘Made in Peru’ category at the next Festival next year.”, comments Daniel Apuy Pérez, who sees this material as an important step to improve the public experience of the newspaper. “The audiovisual is necessary for the public. In recent years we have given greater emphasis to it because it is what readers of digital media required.”, he emphasizes.

As for the table that will take place tomorrow at 3:00 pm in Room No. 2 of the PUCP Cultural Center, it will have the participation of the Argentine critic Diego Brodersen, the Peruvian critic Leny Fernández ―who are part of the Jury of the International Critic of the Festival― and will be moderated by the editor of Dominical, Enrique Planas. During the exhibition, reflection will be made on the challenges of the critic’s trade at a time when space in conventional media is shrinking, while digital spaces are gaining more prominence.
