Los Ángeles Azules will receive the 2023 Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award

The Mexican group of cumbia The blue Angels will receive the Billboard Artistic Trajectory Award during the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony, which will take place next October in Coral Gables, a neighboring city to Miami.

Los Ángeles Azules, who will be distinguished “for an exceptional professional career that has taken Latin music to another level in the world sphere,” will perform at the gala along with other greats of Latin music, as reported by the Billboard organization and the Telemundo network.

The Latin Billboard Awards will be broadcast live by Telemundo from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, and also by the Hispanic entertainment cable channel Universo, the Peacock streaming service, the Telemundo app and in Latin America and the Caribbean by Telemundo International.

From their humble beginnings in the Iztapalapa neighborhood of Mexico City, Los Ángeles Azules have reached the main stages and festivals of the world and have become the greatest exponents of cumbia worldwide.

The Mejía-Avante brothers, leaders and founders of the group, have adapted to modernity and have taken their music throughout Mexico, the United States and Latin American countries, in renowned venues such as Vive Latino and Coachella to name a few.

His songs “How I’m going to forget you”, “El listón de tu pelo” and “17 años” have traveled the continent from end to end.

The group has achieved major hits, including 14 appearances on Billboard’s Hot Lating Songs, with three top 10 hits. They have also had 16 appearances on Latin Airplay, six of which reached the top 10, including “Nunca es suficiente.” , which peaked at number three in 2019.

Their album “From Buenos Aires to the World” debuted at number eight on Billboard’s Top Regional Mexican Albums chart, becoming the group’s twelfth album to enter the Top 10 on the prominent chart.

Adapted to modernity, the album features the participation of Vicentico, Abel Pintos, Lali, Julieta Venegas, Soledad Pastorutti, Jay De La Cueva and Américo, among others, and exceeds one billion views on YouTube.

Los Ángeles Azules are the only Mexican group to double enter the prestigious Billion Views Club on YouTube, surpassing one billion views of the video “Never is enough” with Natalia Lafourcade and the video for “Mis sentimientos” with Ximena Sariñana.

With new hits like “Otra noche” with Nicki Nicole, “Tú y tú” feat. Cazzu and Santa Fe Klan, and “El amor de mi vida”, his most recent single with María Becerra, which, just one week after its release, already exceeds six million views on YouTube, the Mejía-Avante brothers’ group continues to renew itself and reaffirm its validity over the years.

In addition to receiving this award, Los Ángeles Azules are finalists in the category of Tropical Artist of the Year, Duo or Group for this edition of the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Los Ángeles Azules join a select list of artists who have received the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award, including Andrea Boccelli, Armando Manzanero, Carlos Santana, Conjunto Primavera, Emmanuel, Flaco Jiménez, Intocable, Jorge Pinos, José José, Los Lobos, Los Temerarios, Maná, Marco Antonio Solís, Miguel Bosé, Ricardo Arjona and Roberto Carlos.
