“The Erection of Toribio Bardelli”, Peruvian representative for the Oscars 2024, arrives in theaters

“The Erection of Toribio Bardelli”, a film directed by Adrián Saba and chosen to represent Peru in the oscar awards 2024, will hit theaters in Peru on October 26. The film starring Gustavo Bueno and a luxury cast will thus begin its international tour.

The path of the film will begin with its premiere in Peru and will continue with its international tour in other festivals and promotion in the United States in order to achieve a nomination for Best International Film.

With the performances of Gustavo Bueno, Gisela Ponce de León, Rodrigo Sánchez Patiño, Michele Abascal and Lucélia Santos, “La Erección de Toribio Bardelli”, tells the story of a dysfunctional family that is forced to re-examine their lives after the death of their mother. As father and sons reconcile with their own existence, the film becomes a tender and subtle meditation on grief.

“The Erection of Toribio Bardelli”, arrives at commercial movie theaters, after its passage as part of the official selection Fiction Competition of the 27th PUCP Lima Film Festival, where it was shown along with other Peruvian feature films and other countries of Latin America.

It should be noted that this is Adrián Saba’s third film after “El Soñador” (2016) and “El Limpiador” (2012). Saba has participated during these years in festivals such as San Sebastián, Cannes and the Berlinale in various categories and modalities.
