Usher will be in charge of the 2024 Super Bowl show in Las Vegas

American singer Usher was chosen this Sunday by the NFL to perform at the halftime show of the 2024 Super Bowl, the grand finale of the American football season, which will be played on February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

“It is the honor of my life to add an exhibition in the Super Bowl to my list of dreams. I’m looking forward to putting on a show unlike anything you’ve seen from me before. Thank you to my followers and everyone who made this opportunity possible,” Usher said in statements provided by the NFL.

The Texan singer, defined by the American league as “one of the most influential of his generation,” will take over from Rihanna, who performed at the 2023 Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl halftime performance is a truly global event that attracts as much attention as the game itself. In his successful career, Usher, born in Dallas in 1978, sold more than 80 million records and established himself as a global star, as a singer, dancer and businessman.

The Texan also stands out for his social work and has been raising funds to help low-income communities for 24 years, also thanks to his New Look Foundation.

“Usher is an icon whose music has left an indelible mark on a cultural level. “We couldn’t be happier to have him this year,” said Seth Dubowsky, head of music for the NFL.

It will be the second edition of the Super Bowl in which Apple Music is a sponsor of the halftime show.

Rihanna (2023), Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar (2022), The Weeknd (2021), Jennifer López and Shakira (2020), Maroon 5 (2019), Justin Timberlake (2018) , Lady Gaga (2017), Coldplay (2016), Katy Perry (2015), Bruno Mars (2014) and Beyoncé (2013) round out the recent list of Super Bowl performances.
