Jessica Chastain will chair the jury of the Marrakech Film Festival

American actress Jessica Chastain will preside over the jury of the twentieth edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival, which will take place in this Moroccan city from November 24 to December 2.

Its jury will award the Gold Star to one of the fourteen feature films in the international competition, dedicated to the discovery of filmmakers from around the world, the organization reported this Monday in a statement.

Chastain, who already participated in this film event in 2011, won the Oscar for Best Actress in 2022 for her performance in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” and has taken on leading roles with directors such as Terrence Malick, Kathryn Bigelow, Christopher Nolan and Ridley Scott.

In 2016 he founded Freckle Films, a film and television production company based in New York, which will soon release “Memory”, by Mexican Michel Franco, produced by Freckle Films and co-starring Peter Saarsgard.

Chastain recently returned to Broadway in the revival of Ibsen’s classic play “A Doll’s House,” which earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress.

The 2023 edition of the Marrakech Festival will have Martin Scorsese as one of its guest stars, who will be the patron of its training aspect, the Atlas Workshops, dedicated to developing the talent of emerging African and Arab directors.
