“7 years”: all the protagonists of this work, except Roberto Moll, have a fortunate coincidence that unites them

All the protagonists of the local version of “7 years”, except Roberto Mollare alumni of an acting workshop taught by director Roberto Ángeles in 2000. They are friends who, more than two decades after that fortunate coincidence, come together again on stage to give life to a challenging and disturbing staging produced by Ernesto González and Jorge Céspedes.

After studying together, life took us in different directions. I, for example, am more of a businessman than an actor, but every time I have leave I get into a role. Now I am in Josué Méndez’s film, ‘The Monroy Case’, but I had the dream of returning to the theater and, precisely, it coincided with my classmates in that workshop proposing to do a theatrical venture. Jorge Céspedes (his partner, businessman and actor) and I, in addition to acting, are producing this production. We will put on at least one play a year. All will have a business theme. This is the first”explains González Quattrini.

The work of the Spaniards José Cabeza and Julia Fontana, successfully staged in four Latin American countries, arrives for the first time in Peru, under the direction of Roberto Ángeles.

The plot

They are four founding partners of an information technology company equally responsible for tax fraud. But only one will take the blame and go to prison for 7 years in order to minimize the damage. After 80 minutes (the length of the play), the friends will end up as irreconcilable enemies. Old grudges, personal disputes and kept secrets will come to light.

“Each partner has 25% of the company. My character is the general manager and Oscar López Arias’s is the commercial manager. Jorge Céspedes fulfills the role of technology manager. He invents all the products the company sells. He is the rare, half-mad, vulnerable genius. Jackie Vásquez is the group’s finance manager. She has an intimate and illicit interpersonal relationship with the general manager. And Gilberto Nué, who was also with us in the workshop, will only come in for four or five performances to replace Jorge,” explains González. “And Giuliano Salazar, since he couldn’t enter the play, is the assistant director. Finally, Damián Ode, also from that class, donated the Del Carajo peña so we could rehearse,” he adds.

Roberto Moll plays José Vega, the mediator of the story. A man who, unlike the businessmen who hire him, has unwavering values and ethical principles that lead him to make an unexpected decision.

“The character that I have to defend on stage is exciting, very positive. Throughout the play, which he is very strong, he gets to know each of his clients. He has an interesting ending,” explains Moll. “Unlike the original story, this character, at the end of the mediation, despite being offered a 10-year contract, well above what he charges as a mediator, sends them all to hell,” he warns. Gonzalez. “I could never integrate into a sewer like that,” agrees the first actor.
