The Peruvian teacher and pianist Lydia Hung Wongpresident of the Organizing Commission of the National University of Music (UNM), has been recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a Meritorious Personality of Culture, in recognition of her outstanding and continuous work in favor of cultural and musical development
In addition, this award is also given to her for her outstanding work as a manager, cultural promoter and her commitment to musical teaching and training in Peru.
Through Ministerial Resolution No. 000454-2023-MC, the Ministry of Culture made official this recognition to the teacher who has trained several generations of pianists at her alma mater the National Conservatory of Music (today UNM) and promoted piano practice through of the Peruvian Music Board, as well as through the PUCP Early Music Ensemble.
As is known, the distinction of Meritorious Personality of Culture is the recognition granted by the Ministry of Culture to natural or legal persons, public or private, registered or not in public registries, as well as to traditional organizations that have made a significant contribution to the cultural development of the country.
It should be noted that Lydia Hung Wong has been a visiting piano teacher in international courses held at the University of Kansas, Texas Conservatory for Young Artists in Dallas, Florida Gulf Coast University in the USA, among others.
As if that were not enough, she was awarded a scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service as a visiting professor at the main higher music schools in that country in the cities of Berlin, Munich, Bonn and Cologne.
