Hermanos Yaipén: their new song in tribute to Luis Miguel, their ambitious projects with Leslie Shaw and their new and sophisticated wardrobe

Twenty-three years after the birth of Yaipén Brothers, its creators Walter and Javier Yaipén Uypán, look at the past with gratitude, the present with passion and the future with optimism. Gone are the years of rejection, austere and elusive. Today, they smile, celebrate and reinforce themselves with new musical proposals, such as “Tributo Al Sol de México”, a medley in tribute to the Mexican artist Luis Miguel, which will be part of their next album with which – they assure – they will seek a nomination for the Latin Grammys 2024.

This song is in recognition of the exceptional singer Luis Miguel, who will soon perform in Peru (on February 24 and 25, 2024). Includes the songs: ‘La unconditional’, performed by Jonathan Rojas; and “I have everything except you” by Giuseppe Horna. It has a tropical musical style, we have incorporated musical arrangements with instruments such as the accordion“says Walter Yaipén, managing director and percussionist of the northern group.

The launch of the song and the video clip, recorded in Ica, at the Hacienda La Caravedo facilities, will be this November 24 through the group’s social networks and digital music platforms. It joins the four singles that Hermanos Yaipén released this year (“El baile del Tiki Taka”, “Ya no te endure”, “Ciego” and the feat with Leslie Shaw, “Fin de Semana”).

The video was recorded in Ica, in Hacienda La Caravedo. Coco Bravo was in charge of the production“, highlights Javier, musical director, pianist and arranger of the orchestra.

For this new theme, as we do with all releases, we are releasing new uniforms. For the collaboration with Leslie they were blue ones. This time they are black. They are designer (by Eduardo Guerrero). We have a team that saw us. It is expensive for us because it is for all the musicians and the front. My wife is the one who coordinates. We always seek to deliver the best to the public”Walter highlights.

Fruitful collaboration

Hermanos Yaipén currently has Walter and Javier Yaipén, Jonathan Rojas, Giuseppe Horna, Moisés Vega, Alexis Dávila and Fary Martínez in the lead. He has more than 120 songs and more than 200 awards both in Peru and abroad. In December 2013, she was recognized with a triple platinum record for exceeding 30,000 units sold in Peru for the album “Mi Estrella.” And last July, she received recognition at the White House for artistic excellence of the International Gold Excellence Awards.

“Positioning a cumbia brand in Peru is difficult because there are many successful groups, but with dedication and passion it was achieved. We are recording songs, making releases constantly. With Leslie Shaw, with whom we recorded ‘Financial’, in Miami, we plan to do bigger things together, possibly tours”Walter highlights.

He also clarifies that his granddaughter, Maria Sofía Ortiz Yaipén, who participated in Espectaculares Hermanos Yaipén, is not part of the group, as was speculated.

“She was a guest, because she wants to experiment as a soloist. She sings urban cumbia, she already has several songs recorded. One is a feat with Hermanos Yaipén. Suddenly, later on, she wants to join the group,” says the musician, with visible pride.

“As for Donnie, who this year surprised me and Javier, his dad, by announcing his release as a solo artist, we wish him the best. He is very talented, and in Peru, 80% dance cumbia, we need more exponents of that genre,” he says.

Throughout its 23 years of training, Hermanos Yaipén was three times shortlisted for the Latin Grammys. The talented brothers announce that next year they will go for more.

Next year we are going to put together our new album with which we will pursue a Latin Grammy. We are working on it, it is one of our main objectives,” says Javier, musical director, pianist and arranger of the orchestra. “It is a pending goal,” Walter emphasizes.
