Catherine Hardwicke, director of “Twilight”surprised everyone by talking about a possible reboot of the saga and was honest about the name of the actors he would call to star in this version, among them, he described them as “perfect.” Jenna Ortega and Jacob Elordi.
In a recent interview on the “Watch-a-long” podcast, Hardwicke acknowledged that actors Jenna Ortega and Jacob Elordi would be “perfect” to give life to a new version of ‘Bella Swan’ and ‘Edward Cullen’, respectively. As you remember, these roles were played by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
“I mean, it’s amazing. “Probably today it would be Edward,” said the filmmaker about Elordi.
“I think there are a lot of really interesting young actors today. Of course, you just mentioned Jenna Ortega, she’s amazing,” He added when referring to the protagonist of Netflix’s “Merlina.”
In the same interview, Hardwicke also recalled that he recently met Lewis Tan, who confessed that he auditioned for the role of the werewolf ‘Jacob Black’; however, this was obtained by Taylor Lautnet.
It should be noted that, during the conversation on the podcast, the director of “Twilight” acknowledged that the studio had many doubts about choosing Robert Pattinson as the protagonist of the film.
“When he came to my house, he had black bangs for hair and he was a bit out of shape because he was in the pub all the time… I thought, ‘it works not only in person, but also on screen.’ I had to be sure. Of course, in person, I got carried away, but you have to be sure: does it really translate (on the screen)? the filmmaker recalled.
