“Moment of an Imaginary Garden”: Loreto Buttazzoni’s exhibition that captures eternity in porcelain

La Mancha Gallery will host the exhibition until February 10, 2024 “Moment of an Imaginary Garden” by the Chilean visual artist Loreto Buttazzoni. This exhibition brings together a series of works in which Buttazzoni uses porcelain to explore concepts of beauty and expiration in nature, presenting a unique artistic vision that combines modeling, drawing and photography.

In her works, Loreto Buttazzoni captures the ephemeral beauty of nature, offering a reflection on the transience of life. Porcelain, transformed under his skill, becomes a means to immortalize the delicacy of flowers, making each piece a testimony to natural transience.

The current exhibition revolves around the representation of Brugmansia, a tropical flower, which in Buttazzoni’s imagination represents the duality between order and anarchy inherent in beauty and its expiration. Using her vitrified crochet technique, the artist immerses the flowers in liquid porcelain and subjects them to high temperatures, capturing their essence in a way that defies time.

Trained at the Palazzo Spinelli in Florence and at Harvard University, Buttazzoni developed a distinctive artistic language, evident in her porcelain crochet works. These pieces, which oscillate between sculpture and installation, challenge the conventional boundaries of art.

His presence on the international art scene includes representations of Chile at the Biennale Internazionale Donna in Trieste, Italy, and exhibitions at venues such as the Museum of Decorative Arts in Santiago, the Santa Clara Museum in Bogotá, and the Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo in Montevideo.
