Actress Christina Applegate was applauded as she entered the stage of the Emmy 2023 with the presenter of the ceremony Anthony Anderson. The “Dead to Me” star walked arm in arm with Anderson and with the help of a cane. Last year the performer was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Upon entering the stage, all the guests, actors, actresses, directors and technicians from different fictions stood up to applaud and celebrate. The Hollywood star was moved to tears as she approached the microphone.
“You are totally embarrassing me by standing up!” cChristina Applegate commented.
The actress, known worldwide for her role in “Married with Children” was the one who presented the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. This award went to Ayo Edebiri for her role as Sydney in the series ““The Bear”.
On stage, he gave the pass to the veteran and great comedy actress Carol Burnett to present the next award.
“This is very important to me. I have only had one framed painting in my house. And it’s from this person and me. I mean, you are all very famous, but she is more important to me than any of you. Very sorry. You are really great!”he said when introducing it.
“She changed television forever,” he added. “It was Carol, who broke new ground for all the shows that followed with sketches that have stood the test of time. And now, Oh, come on. Please welcome the legend who not only paved the way for me but for all of us.”
Christina Applegate was among the nominees for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. However, this award went to Quinta Brunson for her role in the series “Abbott Elementary. Rachel Brosnahan, Natasha Lyonne and Jenna Ortega were also nominated in that category.
