Since the call was launched on January 31, only nine days were enough for the Lights Awards broke their previous all-time voting record. And at the close of this edition, the award has achieved no less than 87,800 votes registered by a public that is encouraged to join this celebration of culture and entertainment in Peru.
How to explain this unprecedented phenomenon? In part, thanks to the fact that the categories of the current edition reflect an interesting variety and adhere to the emergence of new formats. It also responds to the fact that, like every year, the Luces de El Comercio team strives to improve the process of selecting the nominees, as well as guiding the public so that they can vote in the best way, with guides for their registration, videos tutorials, illustrative notes, and a more active and transparent posture on social networks.
It is important to note that it is not necessary to be an El Comercio subscriber to participate in the voting. In addition, the public has the freedom to choose in which areas they wish to cast their vote, without having to select favorites in all the existing subcategories. In this way, the user experience is prioritized.
Among the most notable changes in these 2023 Luces Awards was the return of the Fashion category, which will recognize the best designer of the year, the best sustainable bet, and the best collaboration of the year. In addition, there will be special awards: the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Newcomer Artist Award, and the Initiative of the Year Award, which will be awarded by a special jury made up of Vania Masías, Gonzalo Torres, Rafaella León, José Carlos Yrigoyen and Manuel García Miró.

Since its creation in December 2004, the well-known trophy in the shape of a light reflector is the symbol of recognition of the greatest exponents of national culture, who honor their talent and dedication in various disciplines, from television and cinema to performing arts and music. Last but not least, we are pleased to report that voting for this edition will run until the end of March, giving the public more time to choose the winners. So come join us in this collective celebration of our best creators. Your vote is the most important thing.
