Carlos Vives will be recognized with the highest award for American authors

The Colombian singer Carlos Vives will be recognized on April 2 with the highest award of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (Ascap), in English, the Founders award, focused on pioneers, the organization reported this Monday.

Carlos Vives (Santa Marta, 1961) boasts a career spanning more than 30 years in which he has fused the traditional sound of Colombian vallenato with pop and rock influences, and has won, among other awards, 18 Latin Grammys and two Grammys. .
