“Gregorio” returns to the cinema: They will screen a restored version of a film released in 1985″

“Gregory”one of the classics of Peruvian cinema, which established itself as one of the most remembered films of the 1980s, will return to commercial theaters in Peru.

On the verge of celebrating its 40th anniversary, “Gregory” will be re-released in national cinemas next Thursday, March 14 and will be presented with a restored version of the footage.

Released in 1985, “Gregory” is a film directed by Alejandro LegaspiStefan Kaspar and Fernando Espinoza and starring the remembered Marino León.

The film was produced by the Chaski Group, founded in 1982 by Legaspi, Kaspar, Espinoza, Fernando Barreto and María Barea.

In turn, the feature film has been restored and remastered by Guarango Cine y Video. The co-director and sound engineer of the work, Alejandro Legaspi and Francisco Adrianzén participated in the image and sound restoration process carried out under the technical direction of Ricardo Cabellos.

That film narrates the adventures of Gregorio, a 12-year-old provincial boy who migrates with his family from a small town in the Andes to the capital of Peru, Lima.

After the death of his father, he finds himself forced to work in the chaotic streets of the city, where he will meet a group of children who live in an abandoned tram: Chollo, Tachuela, Retacito and Gitano.

Gregorio will experience the cultural clash between the Andean world and the chaotic and violent universe of the city, he will have to change his mother tongue: Quechua, for Spanish and he will find his own path, overcoming obstacles.

This film was recognized with multiple international awards such as the Jury and OCIC Mention at the VI Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana (Cuba), Award for best director and performance at the II Bogotá Film Festival (Colombia).

As well as the ‘Medio Exterior’ Award at the XI International Ibero-American Film Festival in Madrid (Spain) and the Jury Prize at the Third World Film Festival in Switzerland.
