Luces 2023 Awards: this Monday, March 25, is the last day to vote

Culture is a reflection of societies. In a country like Peru, with so many difficulties in promoting and maintaining its cultural industries, the existence of these initiatives, be they in theater, music, cinema, literature and others, are a declaration of intentions, that their existence matters. ; They are also a challenge, because for their creators it means a lot of going uphill in a country where other issues are prioritized. In its nineteenth edition, the Lights Awards from El Comercio maintain their work of promoting creators and their works, starting from the audience: they are the ones who choose those who will win the statuettes.

Precisely, this Monday, March 25, is the last day to vote online. The site will remain enabled from morning to night and, at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, the site will no longer accept any more votes. The winners in the eight categories, Television, Film, Performing Arts, Music, Visual Arts, Fashion, Letters and Digital Content, will be revealed on the night of Tuesday, April 2. In the meantime, you have to be patient.

If you haven’t voted yet, you just have to go to the address elcomercio.pe/premios-luces/. If you are not registered on the website, you have to register in the window that will appear on the site, where you must enter your full name, email, password and telephone number. The registration process is free. After that, you can vote in each of the categories and subcategories. Is it necessary to vote on all options? No. For example, if you only want to vote in the Television category, you can do so and immediately go to the end of the form and press the submit button. You can only vote for one nominee per subcategory.

The Luces Awards present new features this year. The Fashion category was recovered, with awards for Best Designer of the Year, Best Collaboration of the Year and Sustainable Bet. Likewise, the Letters category welcomed the award for Best Book of Young People’s Literature, where authors of this popular genre are recognized. And in the Digital Content category, the recognitions have been expanded with the new awards for Best Humorous Content Creator and Best Lifestyle Content Creator. Thus, the objective is for the awards to reflect the dynamism of the Peruvian digital ecosystem.

In addition to the 38 statuettes for which the audience votes, El Comercio will present three special Lights Awards: the Lifetime Achievement Award for an exponent of the cultural field with an extensive career; the Breakthrough Artist award, for a recently emerging creator; and the Initiative of the Year award, which recognizes projects, workshops or proposals with positive social impact. These three awards are not chosen by user vote, but by consensus of a jury made up of the dancer and choreographer Vania Masías, the writer and journalist Rafaella León, the literary critic José Carlos Yrigoyen, the member of the board of directors of El Comercio Manuel García Miró and the actor and host Gonzalo Torres.
