Diego Dibós and Oscar Cavero, from Barrionuevo, present their new album “Hidden Letters of Chabuca Granda”

The cultural project Newtownled by experienced musicians Diego Dibós and Óscar Cavero, returns strongly this 2024 to make the official launch of his new album “Letras hidden de Chabuca Granda”.

That musical product premiered on April 12 on its musical platforms. Through their song they aim to revalue and refresh the folklore of the Peruvian coast in order to reach the young generations.

This new musical production will have eight songs, authored by Chabuca Granda, recognized as Cultural Heritage of the Nation in Peru. Diego Dibós and Óscar Cavero provided the music without losing the Creole essence.

“Finishing this new album was a long process, we released the first song ‘Mañanera’ in May of last year for Mother’s Day, it was a song that Chabuca wrote to his daughter Teresita, 75 years ago”indicated Diego Dibós.

Later, he added: “The second single was ‘Prayer to the Homeland’ in July and then we were working on the rest of the album, which will be released this April 12.”

Dibós highlights that each of the songs on this album has the approval of Chabuca Granda’s daughter, Teresa Fuller.

“I have shared all the songs with Teresita, she is part of this album and she has happily given her appreciation and approval, that makes us quite happy and calm. “We want Teresita to always be part of this album”adds the artist.

Likewise, the singer reported that Chabuca Grande had written songs in the rhythm of cumbia and zamacuecas, so they explored various genres for this new production.

“We started talking to Oscar Cavero and we said why don’t we open the Barrionuevo proposal to a Latin American folkloric proposal and that’s how we started exploring other genres and they started to sound incredible”he commented.

In 2023, Barrionuevo released the first two singles from his new album “Mañanera” in the month of May and in July “Oración a la patria”, where they collaborated with the singer Mauricio Mesones.

Since its launch in 2018, with the first album and the play “Barrionuevo: Nuestra Música Vive”, the project led by the singer-songwriter and music producer Diego Dibós, has achieved different achievements, such as its participation in the international BIME Musical Industry meeting. Pro-2019 and being a finalist in the UPC Business Creativity Award, in the culture category.

In addition, Dibós – at the head of this cultural project – was the creator of the song for the Bicentennial of Peru: ‘Héroes’ which featured the interpretation of Los Mirlos, Miguel Ballumbrosio, Mar de Copas, Cielo Torres, Laurita Pacheco, among others. great national artists.
