“On Your Feet”, a Broadway musical based on Gloria and Emilio Estefan, will come to the cinema

The musical ‘On Your Feet’, based on the lives of musicians Emilio and Gloria Estefanwill be brought to the cinema by Sony Pictures and directed by Lissette Feliciano, who will also be in charge of adapting it to the big screen, Gloria herself confirmed this Friday.

“A dream come true”, said the singer on her Instagram account, in which she confirms the information given by the specialized media Deadline.

The film, which is in pre-production, will have the Estefans’ couple, as well as John and Jordan Davis, of Davis Entertainment, as producers, according to the outlet.

The production will be based on the musical of the same name, which premiered at the Marquis Theater on Broadway in 2016 and where some 750 performances have been performed, and will then embark on a tour of stages in the United States and internationally.

The musical ‘On Your Feet’, directed by Jerry Mitchell, portrays the story of the Estefans, two Cuban immigrants who achieved international stardom from Miami and have become icons of Latin music.

The story focuses on the character of Gloria Estefan, from her arrival to the city in southern Florida (USA), her beginnings on the local scene and her consolidation as the vocalist of the Miami Sound Machine orchestra, all sprinkled with recognizable hits such as ‘Conga’, ‘Rhythm Is Gonna Get You’ and ‘Get On Your Feet’.
