Maelo Ruizconsidered one of the living legends of salsa, celebrates 31 years of an impeccable career and with humility “maintaining the essence of the genre, which has strengthened my loyalty to salsa,” says the artist.
The American singer with Puerto Rican roots chose Peru to celebrate on Friday, May 31 at Scencia de la Molina and at Karamba in Los Olivos, on Saturday at Aventura in Chiclayo, and on Sunday at the Tabaco Marino nightclub in Trujillo. The ‘King of romantic salsa’ will perform songs like ‘If you knew’, ‘If you returned to me’, ‘Give me a night’, ‘It’s going to hurt’, among others.
“I am a romantic performer par excellence and that is how I have made myself known to my audience despite trends. I think they have always known me for my songs, my style and I will continue to maintain it, and the voice of the public is the voice of God,” emphasizes the Latin Grammy-nominated artist.
Regarding his performances in Peru, the artist feels at home “the Peruvian public is very special and is not a cliché for me. I thank you for what I am. Whenever I arrive in this beautiful land, they treat me like just another Peruvian.” Maelo also recognizes how knowledgeable the Peruvian public is about salsa.
Finally, the singer confessed that he was satisfied with the participation he had in Víctor Manuelle’s latest album titled “Retroromántico.” The artist told how the ‘Sonero de la Juventud’ called him to sing together the song “Me failed los dos”. The video clip of the song can now be heard through various digital platforms.
