First Afro-Peruvian Festival: Celebrations of Afro-Peruvian Culture Month continue

Since the beginning of June, every Wednesday, in the Sala Osma located in Barranco, Afro-Peruvian Culture Month is celebrated with the first edition of the Afro-Peruvian Festival. This event, which extends throughout the entire month, recognizes, honors and appreciates the Afro-descendant cultural wealth in our country. With a luxury billboard, the festival brings together great stars of Afro-Peruvian music in shows full of art, culture and tradition.

This initiative seeks to highlight the contributions of the Afro-Peruvian community in the construction of our nation and its contribution in various cultural and artistic aspects. The celebration, which coincides with Afro-Peruvian Culture Month, is an opportunity for attendees to immerse themselves in the richness of this cultural heritage, enjoying performances by some of the most renowned Afro-Peruvian musicians.

Doors open 8:30 pm.  Show 10:30 pm.  Tickets at the door for 30 soles.

  • Wednesday June 19: The party will continue with Cotito, La Voz del Cajón. Producer, percussionist, poet and musical ambassador of the Peruvian cajon, Cotito will take the public through his 47 years of artistic career with great rhythm and flavor.
  • Wednesday June 26: To close the festival, Sala Osma will host Milagros Guerrero, La Internacional. Vocalist of the renowned band Novalima and considered by many to be the best female voice in Peru today, Milagros will present a personal show after returning from her successful gHabla Novalima, a Peruvian band that is triumphing in the United States and visiting California.

After each show, the music will continue alive thanks to Ramón Pérez Prieto, DJ and producer of Novalima, who will be in charge of making the night vibrate with his afrobeats. This extension of the musical celebration allows attendees to enjoy a complete cultural experience, immersed in Afro-Peruvian rhythms and sounds.

Since 2014, Afro-Peruvian Culture Month has been celebrated every June with the objective of recognizing the contributions of the Afro-Peruvian population in the construction of the nation and its current contribution in cultural, social, scientific, economic, religious and artistic aspects of our country. Ten years after the creation of this recognition, Sala Osma keeps this tradition alive with activities designed to make visible the valuable contribution of our Afro-descendant artists.
