Oscars: Hollywood Academy announces new rules and prioritizes exhibition in theaters
The Hollywood Academy announced this Monday that its CEO, Bill Kramer, will continue in his role until July 2028 due to his “exceptional leadership.”
“He is a dynamic and transformative leader and the Board of Governors agrees that he is the ideal person to continue expanding the reach and impact of the Academy in our international film community and successfully guide the organization into our next 100 years.” , Academy President Janet Yang said in a statement.
Kramer first joined the film institution in 2012. In 2020 he became the director of the Academy Museum, located in Los Angeles, and two years later he obtained the position of general director of the Academy, whose contract was scheduled to end in 2025.
Some of the achievements of his management have been the increase in audience ratings at the Oscars, as well as the Academy100 global revenue diversification and outreach campaign, designed to “expand the global reach of the institution.”
According to the statement, Kramer will continue to supervise “all aspects of the Academy and its more than 700 employees in Los Angeles, New York and London”including galas such as the Oscars or the Governors Awards, in addition to continuing to promote education and preservation initiatives of the Academy.
The 97th edition of the Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles (California, USA) and the nominees for this edition will be announced on January 17.
