Dirk surprises with “Vale la pena”, his new single that fuses the Peruvian roots of landau with trap and reggaeton

Since he was little he was very involved with the song Creole, one of his favorite genres today, and he knew that much more could be done to highlight that successes can also be produced in Peru. This is how Dirk premieres his new song “Vale la pena”, which fuses landau with reggaeton and trap, a combination never heard before.

In dialogue with TradeThe guitarist also revealed that the single began with two simple chords, began to feel for a letter and ideas began to appear. “The first step is to try and do it. I wrote the song in a pandemic, one day when I really wanted to party and I said ‘what will it be like to party again?’

The lyrics of “Vale la pena” have a tone of sarcasm and irony that Dirk likes to involve in the songs so that they are different and have different dynamics. “It started as the landó pattern and to make it more modern, in a part of the song I changed it to another rhythm in the style of bachata, a little tango, a little merengue, so that it is more digestible and people can do it. enjoy fully “.

Dirk is more related to pop sounds and usually starts with these, but during the production of this song he decided to include trap and reggaeton. “It’s like taking a little bit of each one and making a crazy fusion that sounds incredible (…) The song has many surprises and that is what excites me about this song”.

Trade had access to the first glimpse of the video clip that premieres this Friday, October 29 and promises to squander sensuality. “(The video is) ultra sensual the truth. The genre of landau is the genre of infatuation and sensuality, danceable again “says the artist.

Dirk is clear about his goal: to do new things and create rhythms. Thus, he has released other hits such as “Festejo”, his first single in Spanish that fuses pop rhythms with Afro-Peruvian music and “Dicen” which is a curious mix of ballad and celebration. All these with the aim of revaluing its Peruvian roots.

“If an artist really wants to leave a mark, leave a stamp and be told that what they do is completely unique, they must try and try (rhythms and arrangements). In truth, that is everyone’s goal: uniqueness, which makes you different from the rest “Dirk points out.

The singer recognizes that Peruvians are ‘babies’ doing reggaeton and that is why he has opted for Peruvian music. “What is our thing? I can do this, I am better at this, for me it is Peruvian music, whatever genre it is, personally it is Creole music, but I have not ruled out Andean rhythms “.

This is how Dirk recognizes that he has always had Chabuca Granda as his reference in music. “My great inspiration anyway”. He also mentioned that with regard to composition, he has the example of Augusto Polo Campos.

The Peruvian artist has not stopped working despite the pandemic, and promises that by November he will reveal more musical news. Also, he is planning to do a collaboration soon and has singer-songwriter Tiare in mind for the moment. “She is a super talented girl, a great friend with whom I have composed a couple of songs”.

Dirk also mentions that he is preparing a couple of songs, and when he finishes them he will find other artists to sing it. “I keep producing and composing to put together more content”, ended.
