“Spiderman: No Way Home”: the tragedy of the villains who return in style, now in the MCU

The official trailer for “Spiderman: No Way Home ”has left fans of the Cinematographic Universe with more questions than answers. Marvel (MCU) before the next premiere of the movie Spider-Man, starring Tom Holland. In it, the triumphant return of some villains who will face -again- Spiderman could be appreciated.

This preview showed Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Sandman, Electro, and Lizard on their triumphant return. Learn about the history of each of them here.

Doctor Octopus is a character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and first appeared in the 1963 series “Amazing Spider-Man No. 3”. The fictional biography of this villain is daunting, as he grew up in a home where so much he and his mother Maria were attacked by their father Tobert.

Therefore, Doc Ock devoted himself completely to his education to try to get out of that hell. His efforts paid off, and after his father died in an industrial accident, Otto became obsessed with physical science. His mother thought that no woman was worthy to marry her son; And when he found out that Maria was engaged to a librarian, he reprimanded her.

This heated discussion caused Maria to suffer a heart attack and her subsequent death. This loneliness led Otto to ignore the world; and stop paying special attention to your work with chemicals.

During “Spiderman 2” (2003), and under the interpretation of Alfred Molina, we would know that Doctor Octopus would be Peter Parker’s mentor (Spiderman played by Tobey Maguire), but a radiation leak in his laboratory makes him the villain and murderer with four mechanical arms on the back.

His obsession with perfecting the experimental fusion reactor leads him to confront Peter and put New York in danger. At the end of that movie, Doc Ock drowns in the East River next to his reactor, moments before the city is destroyed.

You would think that was the end of Otto; but around 17 years later, Alfred Molina will return with “Spiderman: No Way Home” in the same role. Will he continue to be from the villain team? The new trailer would reveal a change of attitude on the part of Doctor Octopus; although this can only be confirmed with the premiere of Jon Watts’ film.

Also created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the Green Goblin is another of Spiderman’s enemies with weapons that resemble bats, ghosts, and pumpkin lanterns. Norman Osborn first appeared in “The Amazing Spider-Man # 14” (1964) as the original incarnation of the villain.

Born in Connecticut, he was the son of Amberson Osborn, a brilliant student in the field of science; who became an alcoholic after losing control of his manufacturing company and became abusive to his family.

Norman suffered greatly from his father’s addiction, but managed to get by. In college he fell in love with and married Emily, with whom he has son Harry Osborn. He manages to create his own defense technology company Industrias Oscorp and achieves great success; making a fortune. However, his wife died one year after their son was born; That leads him to focus entirely on work and neglect his relationship with Harry.

After many hours in the laboratory, Norman discovers an experimental formula to improve strength and intelligence; But when he tries to make the potion, it turns green and explodes in his face, turning him into the Green Goblin. This accident increases his intelligence and physical abilities, but also drives him to self-destructive insanity.

The entrance of the villain on the big screen occurred from the first movie “Spiderman” (2002). The actor Willem Dafoe will be in charge of giving life -again- the Green Goblin in “Spiderman: No Way Home” to premiere next December and the fans of the franchise have the doubt of whether there will be two Green Goblins, as could have been evidenced in the official trailer.

The troubled fugitive Flint Marko, played by Thomas Haden Church, will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Sandman is accidentally created when he falls into a particle accelerator pit that fuses his body with the sand; which allows you to change shape whenever you want.

Marko appears in “Spiderman 3,” when he confronts Peter Parker over Uncle Ben’s death. Both engage in a fight where the Sandman ends up turned into mud and Spiderman thinks he has finished with him and his revenge; but it was not like that.

When he recovers, he teams up with Eddie Brock (Venom) to destroy Spiderman; but the latter is helped by his friend Harry and avoids his end. In this way, and after the end of the fight, Marko confesses that he had no intention of killing his uncle Ben Parker, who he accidentally fired his gun at when another criminal grabbed his arm. He stressed that his only concern at that time was his daughter, who suffered from cancer and was in a critical situation.

The Sandman asks Spiderman to understand and forgive him, which he ends up doing. Flint Marko dissipates through tears and floats away in the air, after solving the dilemma that had him anguished, after having caused a death.

In “Spiderman: No Way Home”, Thomas Haden Church will reprise this character. Could he become an ally of Spider-Man?

Maxwell Dillon, named after the villain “Electro,” first appeared in 1964’s “The Amazing Spider-Man No. 9”. This character comes from a dysfunctional family: marked by the abandonment of his father and the overprotection of his mother. Living in torment caused him a great resentment towards all humanity, thus becoming one of the most famous antagonists of the MCU.

The electrical engineer was repairing a power line when a strange lightning accident occurred, which caused a mutagenic change that transformed it into a live electrical capacitor. Initially, his powers were weak, so he was stealing electrical equipment from Stark Industries (from Iron Man) to charge.

His debut on the big screen was with “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” (2014), where he was played by actor Jamie Foxx. In this film, Electro is shown totally out of control after receiving the powers of electrical energy, causing an accidental blackout in Times Square.

Electro causes another blackout in New York, Spiderman decides to confront him. In battle, they use Electro to absorb his own electricity and overcharge him, which ends up killing him. Everyone thought that that would be the end of the villain, but it would not be like that.

Foxx will be in charge of bringing this endearing character to life in “Spiderman: No Way Home” to premiere next month; where we could see what happened to Electro after his tragic end on the 2014 film.

His first appearance was in the comic “The Amazing Spider-Man # 6” (1963) as the occasional antihero of Spiderman. The character Curtis “Curt” Connors was born in Florida and was a war surgeon in the US Army. But, during the war, his right arm was injured and had to be amputated.

After that, he became obsessed with the science of regeneration of the reptilian limbs. After a long time of work, he managed to develop an experimental serum taken from reptile DNA and managed to successfully generate the missing limb of a rabbit.

That led him to test the serum on himself, and sure enough, his arm grew back. Connors ignored the side effects and subsequently transformed into a reptilian humanoid monster.

During his first appearance in the cinema with “Spiderman 2” (2004) and “Spiderman 3” (2007) he was played by Dylan Baker; while Rhys Ifans gave life to his alter ego in “The Amazing Spiderman” (2012). In this tape, Spiderman suspects that Connors is the Lizard and they face; Peter Parker discovers the villain’s plan to release a gas that turns the entire city into lizardmen like him, and manages to stop him.

In the film’s post-credits scene, Connors is seen imprisoned and a man approaches him to ask if he told Peter about his father, to which Lagarto replies no and tells him that he should leave Peter alone. It should be noted that Rhys Ifans will have the task of playing the villain in “Spiderman: No Way Home” which opens later this year.

Definitely, the fans of “Spiderman” will have to wait until December 16 to confirm what will be the role of each of the villains in this new installment of Marvel on Spider-Man, starring Tom Holland.
