“El Viaje Macho”: Peruvian film opens in theaters on November 25

This Thursday, November 25, the national film “El Viaje Macho” will be released in Peruvian cinemas. The debut of the Huancaíno filmmaker Luis Basurto is produced by Badu Producciones and will be exhibited in commercial theaters of Huancayo, Lima and other cities of the country.

“El Viaje Macho” is a drama developed in the central Andean area of ​​Peru, which shows the viewer the ravine that connects the cities of Huancayo and Huancavelica, aboard the legendary “Male Train” (the one that leaves when you want and returns when you can ).

The film stars Luis Ramírez, who will be accompanied by a particularly interesting cast: Amiel Cayo, Magaly Solier, Juan Ubaldo Huamán, among other actors.

What is ‘El Viaje Macho’ about?

It tells the story of Carlos Espejo (Luis Ramírez), who has served a long and unjust sentence. Upon leaving prison, he discovers that his life has vanished: his son has moved away, his house no longer belongs to him and his friends barely remember him.

Without more to cling to, he will find Huancayo a strange and hostile city. He will be carried away by the Andean ravine mounted on the mythical Tren Macho, guiding Nazario (Amiel Cayo), a blind person he met in jail and who also seeks to return home.

“El Viaje Macho” was premiered internationally in France at the recent Biarritz Festival of Amérique Latine, receiving excellent comments from the French public. Luis Basurto’s debut feature was financed with funds from the Exclusive Feature Film Contest for the Regions of the Country of the Ministry of Culture and with support for the development of IBERMEDIA projects.

The film was scheduled to premiere in theaters in April 2020, but due to the health emergency it had to be suspended. More than a year and a half later and after having participated in festivals in Peru, France, Ecuador, he will finally be able to be seen by the Peruvian public.
