Efraín Aguilar, teacher: Who was the best acting student of the creator of “Al fondo hay Sitio”? He tells it

Efraín Aguilar Pardavé closes a tough year with optimism and two new work projects. The creator of “In the background there is room”He resumed teaching face-to-face and renewed his contract with América TV as a content producer. “When I saw the curtain fall on the Canout theater without being able to avoid it, I thought I had lost everything, then came the COVID-19 thing. Today, life smiles at me again”, He agrees.

On the fifth floor of the Arenales shopping center, where the Jade cinema used to work, I have built a new theater with all the biosecurity measures required by the Ministry of Health. I put a huge stage, similar to the one at the Canout. I will replay the play ‘Intimate friends’, and this January 4th I will begin my acting workshops in face-to-face mode. I will receive 30 or 40 students in a room that has access for 500 people. I am excited to be able to meet my students again”, Highlights the creator of the most successful series on national TV,“ Al fondo hay Sitio ”.

In 1968, when he was 23 years old, Aguilar graduated from the National Pedagogical Institute as one of the most outstanding students. Currently, he has been teaching acting in national educational centers and universities to young children and adults for more than five decades, many of whom are currently established actors.

I am a pedagogue and my cultural activity makes me see the problems that exist around art, call it performing art, painting, archeology, architecture ”, emphasizes Aguilar. “All my life I have taught classes, either in schools, such as 3047 in Comas and in universities. Continuously until 1980. From 1980 to 2006 I stopped giving classes to dedicate myself to producing on TV, then I did theater and resumed teaching, but during the pandemic I had to suspend my workshops“, Add.

They have his stamp

. Irma Maury, the popular ‘Nelly Camacho Morote de Collazos’ from “Al fondo hay Sitio” also has the stamp of the popular ‘Betito’.

Gisela was a student of mine, she has a natural charm, she stood out more for her ease of speech than for her work as an actress. At that time she was the student who read the most. And reading is essential for an actor because if you don’t read you don’t have the ability to express yourself. His last name also helped him, his father was an intellectual (Jorge Valcárcel Velasco)”Recalls the producer.

As for Irma, she worked as a secretary for the countryaje García Calderón, in Cercado de Lima, near to Grupo Histrión, the art school where I taught. She took classes to test because at first she was not convinced that she wanted to be an actress, she did not feel well, but she had conditions and a desire to learn. ‘Los meritorios’ by the Álvarez Quintero brothers was the first play in which he participated“, Add.

Michael Finseth, the popular ‘Memo’ in the Panamericana TV series “1000 offices”, had Efraín Aguilar as an acting guide when his colleagues from the national production requested his departure, claiming that he was delaying the recordings due to his “incompetence as an actor.”

. Is more, one day. I refused to do it, but things did not stop there. Ernesto Schutz (Panamericana TV administrator at that time) called me to ask me the same thing. I also refused. I said, ‘You’re a papermaker, so do that. Leave me alone. ‘ He never messed with me again. And Finseth progressed a lot, everyone was amazed at his achievements”Recalls the director.

Great passion

Efraín Aguilar looks at the past with gratitude and reflects on his work on television and theater. And although most of his life has been dedicated to producing humorous programs and fiction for the small screen, he assures that acting is his greatest passion.

I am not an outburst of television, I prepared myself, I studied. I feel like much more of an actor than a producer and director. I remember that Don Alberto Terry, with whom I fought several times, was the one who discovered my ability to produce. He told me he had leadership skills”, He says.

The last time ‘Betito’ acted was in 2013, in the play “Marat-Sade”, playing the Marquis de Sade. “It was one of my best roles, and I wasn’t going to do it, it was for Roberto Moll, but he got sick in Venezuela, he almost died. So I had to replace it, in fifteen days I learned the role ”, he remembers.

“At the bottom there is room”

After renewing the contract with América TV, Efraín Aguilar clarified that he will be the producer of content for international proposals. “They are going to give me some projects so that I can decide which one goes first, which second and which third, budget them and start. That is going to be my job. That’s why when they ask me if I’m going to be in ‘At the bottom there is room’, I say ‘no’”He remarks.
