Restrictions against avian influenza lifted in part of the department

The towns of Saint-Brieuc, Langueux, Trégueux, Hillion, Yffiniac and Plédran (Côtes-d’Armor) are no longer under temporary control of poultry movements. Breeders in this area of the department can therefore circulate their animals freely. An epidemic of avian influenza prompted the prefecture to take measures last January.

No positive test

The latter are no longer necessary since no cases of the disease have been detected in wild birds, explains West France. The particularly contagious nature of avian influenza was of great concern. The most transmissible strain of this flu is indeed likely to cause the death of many poultry.

Throughout the country, poultry from private backyards or professional farms must nevertheless remain confined. To take the decision to lift the restrictions, the local authorities relied on “the reports of the visits carried out by the health veterinarians concerned”, specifies the prefectural decree published on Monday.
