Leclerc recalls potentially contaminated ground beef in Rouen

After pizzas, then Kinder cheeses and chocolates… The government site Rappel Conso announced yesterday the recall of minced steaks.
These were sold at the Leclerc center in Saint-Sever in Rouen (Seine-Maritime). In question: the detection of a bacterium (listeria monocytogenes) responsible for listeriosis.
The suspect meat was marketed between January 24 and April 24, 2022, “in the traditional butchery department”, explains Actu.fr.

Consumers are asked to return the product or destroy it after contacting the point of sale. “We ask customers who have frozen ground beef before the date of April 24, 2022 and who still have them, not to consume them”, warn the authorities.

In its so-called “invasive” form, listeriosis is particularly deadly

As a reminder, listeriosis is a rare disease, with approximately 400 cases each year, which can be serious and even lead to death. The incubation period can be up to eight weeks. In its so-called “invasive” form, listeriosis is particularly deadly: around a quarter of patients die from it, for example due to neurological complications such as meningitis.

“People who have consumed them and who have a fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches, are invited to consult their doctor, notifying him of this consumption”, insists Rappel Conso.
