The Occitanie region is recording a real surge in Covid-19 cases in one week. Which now results in a resumption of hospitalizations, which worries on the eve of the summer holidays and while the emergency services are shaken by strikes.
In the region, the Regional Health Agency has recorded 64% of new cases over the past seven days, or more than 7,000 cases per day on average. In screening centers, at present, one in three tests is positive. And if until now, hospitalizations have stagnated, they are now on the rise again.

In Occitania, 1,221 people are treated in a care establishment due to Covid-19 (+94 in one week) and 61 are in intensive care or critical care (+7).
Haute-Garonne, the most affected department
It is in Haute-Garonne that the indicators are the highest in the region, with 933 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, when it was 551 cases last week. It is the 5th French department with the highest incidence and the first in Occitanie, with 933 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The most affected are the 45-65 year olds with a rate of 1,181 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The authorities are calling on citizens to resume the good habits of barrier gestures. Without being mandatory, the Regional Health Agency indicates that “the mask is also strongly recommended again in public transport or in closed places”.
