Big mess Thursday at the Bretagne Atlantique Hospital Center in Vannes (Morbihan). An “electrical incident” resulting in a major power outage affected the establishment in the early afternoon. Several services were impacted, “mainly the continuing care unit, the technical imaging platform, the operating theaters and the delivery rooms”, reports the hospital center.
The difficulties were such that the white plan had to be triggered. Several patients received in these sectors were “directed to surrounding establishments with prior information from the families, as well as to other CHBA units not affected by this incident”.
By early evening, the situation was being resolved with the arrival of an emergency generator. The population is however still invited “not to go to the emergency room spontaneously and to call 15 if necessary”. With a capacity of 1,430 beds, the Bretagne Atlantique Hospital Center is one of the largest hospitals in the Brittany region. “If necessary, you are asked not to go to the emergency room of Vannes hospital and to contact 15”, advises the prefecture of Morbihan.
