After prescription sports for people with Covid-19, Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) is still innovating in healthcare. The city is launching a new device called the “Green Prescription” for pregnant women.
“Every year 3,000 women get pregnant in Strasbourg. They are especially prone to endocrine disruptors, which can have catastrophic consequences for the health of their unborn child,” explains Dr. Alexander Feltz, medical assistant in the Alsatian capital. Obviously, within one year, 800 pregnant women will be able to take part in awareness-raising seminars organized in the medical and social centers of Strasbourg.
“These moms-to-be should have a healthy, varied and nutrient-dense diet.”
“These meetings will allow expectant mothers to identify the presence of endocrine disruptors in food. Professionals who will also provide advice on the development of natural and safe cleaning products,” said the elected official. In addition, the green recipe will allow these pregnant women to receive a basket of organic fruits and vegetables every week for seven months.
“These mothers-to-be need a healthy, varied and nutrient-dense diet during pregnancy,” insists Dr. Feltz. This “green prescription” can be prescribed by general practitioners, gynecologists or midwives in Strasbourg and will be required to receive reimbursement for these services.
The Ecological Municipality, headed by Zhanna Barseghyan, will draw up the first assessment of the “green decree” in a year. A device for which the city will invest 500,000 euros each year.
